    The Library subscribes to a large number of online databases these will help you find reliable information from trusted sources specific to your subject areas. 

    Many of the databases provide access to full text articles and documents all available online, whilst others will provide an abstract and citation details and you may have to check the library catalogue to see if full text is available.  To do this click on Is it @ SSU where you see it as this will check the library catalogue for access via a different source.

    Your key databases are:

    ABI Inform - full text journals, magazines, reports and newspaper. Video tutorials are available to help you use ABI Inform.

    IEEE Xplore - full text journals, magazines and conference papers from IEEE and IET. Video tutorials are available to help you use IEEE Xplore.

    British Standards Online  - Full text access to a number of British Standards and ISO standards.  If the Standard you require is not available from either source, please contact the Library and we can investigate possible access. Five simultaneous users allowed. Login via the Portal and go to the eResource Passwords page. Click on the link under British Standards Online to access on or off campus access.

    Shipping Intelligence Network - (Clarksons)  analysis of data relating to merchant shipping, offshore market reports, fleet and owners, ship sales, new ships, shipping/cargo and activity data including capsizes.
    You can access this resource on campus only. (please note that a non-University username and password is needed to access this journal - you will need to be signed into the portal to view the username/password listing)

    i-law  - Legal maritime information plus fulltext versions of legal reference books, looseleafs, law reports and journals (including Lloyds Law Reports).  View the subject guide for Law for more information on using i-Law or Maritime Law

    ScienceDirect database offering full text articles and book chapters from selected journals and books, plus search the abstracts of more than 2,500 journals. Online video guides available to help you use ScienceDirect

    Click link to access all databases for Maritime - F next to the database name indicates that full text is mostly available.  For more information on a specific database click the to the right of the database name to see details of usernames/passwords that may be needed for access and the subject coverage.
