New software called MyPC is being gradually installed on all the computers - Macs and PCs - in the library. It allows you to see how many computers are available in each area, and to make advance bookings for some areas.
While some areas will become bookable, other areas will be for walk-up only use.
From Tuesday 9 January you will be able to book computers in the library's Third Floor Group Study area. Use MyPC to book, and consult our Guide for an overview of the booking process.
For this area the key points to remember are:
Each booking can be up to 4 hours long
You can have up to 10 bookings at any one time
You can book up to 7 days in advance
You must log-on within 15 minutes of your booking start time, or you will lose the booking
If you leave a computer inactive for 30 minutes, you will be logged off and any booking will be cancelled
You can still use computers in this area without booking, but be aware that they might be booked by someone else, and you will only be able to use them until that booking starts. Check the screen for before logging in to see how long a computer is available for.
Walk up computers
Most computers in the library are currently available for walk-up only use, and you should be able to use these computers much as you did before the introduction of MyPC.
