Key tips for Learning Online at Solent
Never learned online before? It's not as difficult as you might think. This guide will get you started without any worries.
Getting Started
Ensure you are set up online with all available systems and access to be able to stay informed, participate in learning activities and complete your work.Be Familiar With Solent Systems
If you are unfamiliar with the Solent systems, please complete the Online Induction.
Keep Up To Date With Solent Email
Email will be the primary method of communication and you will need to keep checking your Solent Email. You can access directly at: email.solent.ac.uk
Managing your Internet Connection
If you can get access to a good internet connection this will help with accessing online lectures, webinars and video meetings. Working with documents online can sometimes be problematic if the connection drops out. Make sure you back up your work in more than one place and if possible keep copies of your work so you can return to a previous version if disaster strikes.
Download Software
You can download Office365 which includes applications such as Word. PowerPoint and Excel for use on your own machine using your Solent University account. You will need to activate it using your Solent Email and password. Further details are available on the Portal: Software Downloads.
